NCDC on Tuesday confirmed that Zamfara State recorded 10 cases.

On its Twitter page, NCDC wrote: “On the 18th of May, 8 new cases in Zamfara were erroneously announced.
“Therefore, as at the 20th of May 2020, Zamfara has recorded a total of 76 confirmed cases.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to extend the eased lockdown for another two weeks is to try and contain the spread of COVID-19, before the economy is fully reopened.
Mustapha, who is also the chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, stated this during the daily media briefing on Tuesday.
The first phase of the eased lockdown expired on Monday, May 18.
Buhari has now extended it by another two weeks until June 1.
Mustapha called on schools, places of worship, businesses, offices, etc to use this period to plan and adopt new strategies under a COVID-19 era in line with the guidelines.
According to Mustapha, the decision to reopen the economy slowly, is based on “current experiences from different countries and expert advice”.
He said: “Again, I wish to repeat that the decision is not punitive, we share your pains and also share your concerns. However, our future remains in our hands and compliance is one of the keys to opening that future.
“I must also emphasise that the two additional weeks should be utilized by businesses, offices, professional bodies, places of worship, educational institutions, etc awaiting reopening to plan and adopt new strategies under a COVID-19 era in line with the guidelines.
“Above all, behavioral change is a must for every citizen because COVID 19 has changed the world completely.”
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday night, announced 226 new cases.
It brings the tally in the country to 6,401.

COVID - 19: See Why President Buhari Extends Eased Lockdown

… No community testing across states yet, says NCDC

The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, on Tuesday admonished Nigerians to prepare for the worst, even as the Federal Government assiduously works to curtail the spread of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
He urged health workers and citizens alike to do their best to learn more about the virus, even as President Muhammadu Buhari extends the easing of restrictions in Lagos, Ogun and FCT.
Speaking during the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, in Abuja, he said: “Yesterday, the President authorized extending easing of restrictions in Lagos, Ogun and FCT by another two weeks. The lockdown in Kano was also extended by two weeks, to address remaining challenges to containing the increasing number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.
“It is of great importance that we – members of the health sector and citizens, endeavour to use this period to dedicate efforts to strive for the best, but also prepare for the worst.
“As we learn more about coronavirus every day, we must be ready to adjust our strategy, based on knowledge and evidence.
“To continue strengthening response in States, the Federal Ministry of Health and Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) are assessing isolation centers all over the country, recently in Yenagoa and Oshogbo. We also continue providing diagnostic commodities and facilities in collaboration with partners.
“The Federal Ministry of Health places special priority on the maintenance of essential services in both private and public hospitals throughout the country, because of the serious harm that arises from neglecting routine healthcare services like reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH), immunization, chronic disease management, all due to fear of COVID-19 or sole focus on COVID-19.”
The Director-General of the NCDC, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, in his remark said: “We are not doing community testing everywhere. In certain states like Lagos, Kano, and even in the FCT, we are taking the test a lot closer to the community because of the intensity of transmission in those states.
“In those states, the states are identifying hotspot areas and based on these identifications, intensifying testing in those communities. We haven’t gotten to the stage of drawing community testing across the country. We are doing targeted hotspot areas identified by states.”

Breaking: Buhari Reveals How $311 Million Recovered Abacha Loot Will be Disbursed

The Presidency has announced its plans for the 311 million US Dollars repatriated from the United States as Abacha loot. This money followed a series of repatriated funds stolen by the former military General Sanni Abacha since 1998.

In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the Federal government recovered the latest on Monday.

According to him, the funds have already been allocated and will be used in full, for vital and decades-overdue infrastructure development.

The projects to be executed include the second Niger Bridge, the Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressways – creating tens of thousands of Nigerian construction jobs and local skills, which can then be useful in future projects.

“Part of the funds will also be invested in the Mambilla Power Project which, when completed, will provide electricity to some three million homes – over ten million citizens – in our country,” He added.

He, however, made it known that the receipt of these stolen monies – and the hundreds of millions more that have already been returned from the United Kingdom and Switzerland – are an opportunity for the development of our nation, made far harder for those decades the country was robbed of these funds.

“Indeed, previous monies returned last year from Switzerland – some $320 million US dollars – are already being used for the government’s free school feeding scheme, a stipend for millions of disadvantaged citizens, and grain grants for those in severe food hardship.

Without these funds, the fight against Covid-19 would be even tougher.

The latest return is a testament to the growing and deepening relationship between the government of Nigeria and the government of the United States.

Without cooperation both from the UK Government, the US Executive branch and US Congress, we would not have achieved the return of these funds at all.

For years many countries deemed successive Nigerian administrations as too corrupt, too venal and too likely to squander and re-steal the stolen monies – so they did not return the funds.

Today, US, UK and other jurisdictions have found the partnership with the nation of Nigeria they can finally trust,” the statement read in parts.

Mr Shehu then assured that the Buhari-led administration is committed to – and is enacting – total and zero tolerance to corruption in politics and public administration.

“The days when the government was seen and used by the political class as their personal ATM to empty are over. The time of better governance and clean hands in the affairs of state is here to stay,” He declared.

Dr Nasiru Sani Gwarzo, leader of the Presidential Task Force Committee on COVID-19, has said that the novel Coronavirus is responsible for people dropping dead in Kano state in recent times.

The state has recorded an unusual increase in deaths since it recorded its first coronavirus case in April. Abdullahi Ganduje, the governor, had denied that the deaths were linked to COVID-19, saying investigation was ongoing.

He also announced that after consultation with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the government had agreed on “verbal autopsy” to ascertain the cause of the deaths. But speaking with reporters in Kano on Sunday, Gwarzo, who also lost his father during the period that Kano recorded a high number of deaths

Gwarzo who disclosed this to newsmen on Sunday May 3rd, said tests carried out so far, established that COVID-19 was the cause of the mass deaths.

“Let me inform us that most of the deaths recorded of recent and test carried out showed that coronavirus was the cause. So, before the final report which would be ready in the next one week or few days, it is necessary for people of Kano to wake up from their slumber that this is a serious issue.

We need to know what is happening. We are successful in identifying what the problems are and secondly we are happy on the level of cooperation from the private sector and other stake holders. Many people have come out to support the state. We cannot expand our investigation until we are certain.

We have five cogent reasons to say that the mass death recorded in Kano is associated with coronavirus” he said.

There have been concerns about the COVID-19 cases and the increasing deaths in the state. President Buhari last week, gave a matching order to the Gwarzo-led Presidential Task Force to unravel the cause of the mysterious deaths in Kano and also to contain the spread of the virus in the state.

COVID - 19 Lockdown: President Buhari Speaks To The Nation

Femi Fan-Kayode, a staunch critic of President Muhammadu Buhari has lambasted the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for appointing the president as the ‘Champion of the COVID-19 response’ by Authority of Heads of State and Government.
The body appointed Buhari on Thursday at the Extraordinary ECOWAS Summit on COVID-19 held via teleconferencing under the Chairmanship of, Mahamadou Issoufou, President of the Republic of Niger.
ECOWAS, according to a statement released by Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina during the teleconference, made the announcement.
President Buhari then called on fellow ECOWAS leaders to look beyond the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and tap into various opportunities that it presents for the betterment of lives in the Member States.
Reacting to the development via his Twitter page, Fani-Kayode whos is also a former Aviation Minister said the African body made its greatest mistake with the appointment.
“The greatest mistake that the ECOWAS leaders have made is to appoint @MBuhari as the leader of the fight against COVID 19. This is a cataclysmic error which they will deeply regret. He can barely manage himself & now you ask him to manage a sub-region of 400 million people?,” he asks.

The American "Fortune" magazine released the world's 25 greatest anti-epidemic leaders of the year, paying tribute to the world heroes who fight against the epidemic. Bill Gates ranked 10th.
On April 16, the Gates Foundation announced another additional donation amount of 150 million US dollars, and promised to use the foundation's "strategic investment fund" resources to accelerate the procurement of key medical materials. Earlier, Gates invested billions of dollars to develop and produce seven promising coronavirus vaccines, so that they can be quickly put into mass production after they are determined to be effective against the new coronavirus.
Gates said in an interview: "Because there are no better alternatives, we will waste billions of dollars on vaccine factories that have not been selected in the future. However, in this case, where we are The situation is (if the epidemic cannot be controlled), trillions of dollars in losses will be faced, and in contrast, these losses are worth it. "
As early as 2017, Gates created the Epidemic Prevention Innovation Alliance, a new alliance aimed at accelerating vaccine research and development to prevent and control epidemics.
Bill Gates is particularly sensible on the issue of the US epidemic. He has been calling for a unified measure throughout the country, that is, a large-scale "closure of the city." Said that US government agencies need to increase screening for new coronavirus infections and should provide more tests. We should also summarize the results so that we can quickly identify potential volunteers for clinical trials and know exactly when we will return to normal.
However, at present, Bill Gates is under threat of death. Some people in the United States believe that the outbreak itself was "made" by the Bill Gates Foundation and others. His "human removal plan" ...
The whistleblower vowed to declare that Bill Gates has launched a secret project that will achieve the purpose of controlling all humanity through the new crown vaccine. The specific method is to put a microchip in the vaccine.
The word came out of a pair of American twins, black female internet celebrities "Diamond and Silk", they are Trump's fanatical admirers, they think Trump is the best president in the history of America. Thank you for your support, Trump is ready for all Americans to have the opportunity to get the American Dream. The duo claimed: "As long as the new crown vaccine is given, Bill Gates will be able to track you down. We don't want to be his pilot!"
These people also said that as early as 1997, Bill Gates envisaged the use of a lung virus to control the world's population. For many years, Bill Gates heavily funded vaccine research and conducted experiments on black Africans. 2020 is his chance to realize his "ideal": kill a large group of people with a virus, and the rest are implanted with a chip through a vaccine to eventually control all humans.
These people misinterpreted Bill Gates ’previous interviews and became evidence that Bill Gates was the murderer of the new corona virus.
On the petition site change.org, more than 150,000 people asked Bill Gates to stop the digital identity authentication project code-named "ID2020", which is considered to inject chips into the human body through a vaccine.
At present, hundreds of thousands of Americans believe that Fuchs and Bill Gates are the main promoters of the new crown virus, and Fuchs, known in the United States, has repeatedly sang counter-attacks and told the audience the harmful effects of the virus in a pragmatic manner and making a stand on the front line of the sniper virus. However, this was opposed by Trump supporters.
As he faced more and more threats, the federal government had to strengthen his security. More than six special agents from the HHS inspector general's office provided Foch with protection services.
Why Bill Gates was rumored by the American people as the maker of the new coronavirus, this is related to the US anti-vaccine group and Trump supporters.
For the Republican voters who support Trump, everything Trump has said is correct, and Foch, who is in opposition to Trump, is undoubtedly a member of Trump ’s “deep state” resistance. They behave just like extreme fans.
Bill Gates has repeatedly commented on Trump ’s anti-epidemic decision, and recently opposed Trump ’s statement to stop funding the World Health Organization (WHO) and affirmed China ’s anti-epidemic achievements. , Bill Gates has always been a thorn in his eyes.
It is against this background that Bill Gates became the behind-the-scenes hand of the new coronavirus. Fuch once said that the public needs reliable and understandable medical information, especially during a crisis.
However, as Bill Gates, Fuchs and other courageous individuals have encountered personal threats, and many whistleblowers have been suppressed, what exactly will the epidemic unravel?

COVID-19: Bill Gates Opens Up On Threats

This is a trying time for the Mohammadu Buhari administration following the heartbreaking death of the powerful Chief of Staff and personal gatekeeper to the President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Malam Abba Kyari.

The disagreement inside the kitchen cabinet of the President had not been the same since the unfortunate news.

The President, was hit hard by the news. “He was optimistic up till the very end,” said our source. Now the full weight of reality has come down on the shoulders of the president in a manner he is not accustomed to.

Abba Kyari had played a role in the Buhari administration that defined the administration’s perception by the public and by the manner it executes its duties.

Abba Kyari, through the urging of President, turned the office of the chief of staff as the most powerful office in Nigeria.

For this reason, seeking a replacement for Kyari has become a do or die affair for the members of the kitchen cabinet, particularly Maman Daura – the supposed leader of the Buhari kitchen cabinet.

Also, the wife to the President, Aisha Buhari has thrown her weight into the race for the new chief of staff.

As reported, Maman Daura has indicated an interest in old political guru Babagana Kingibe as his prime choice. While Aisha Buhari prefers Buba Marwa.

Kingibe, according to reports, had already begun running the office of the chief of staff while Kyari was away for medical treatment. “Kingibe was there openly running the government before Kyari’s death,” said our source who also noted that the first lady was not particularly happy with the decision to let Kinigibe into the office to handle affairs in the absence of Kyari.

She saw Kyari’s absence as the opportunity and the opening she had been longing for since her husband’s arrival to the Presidential villa in 2015. “Madam is determined. Don’t underrate her”.

The members of the President Executive Council [FEC] are believed to be privately working to advance the First Lady’s interest to arm-twist the President into reducing the influence of Mama.

Opinions points to significant numbers from the National Assembly who are with ‘Madam”.

They do not want another Abba Kyari styled chief of staff again. Rather they prefer a more seasoned and independent politician at the seat. They have no particular affinity to Marwa. They just do not want Maman Daura to make the choice.

“Madam has secrets”. She knows where some of the bodies are buried. She has told some close aides Kingibe intends to contest for president in 2023 after Buhari’s administration.

She also believes Kingibe will “certainly betray Buhari”. He is said to be “a very selfish and ambitious politician”.

Kingibe was the one responsible for the plot for the removal of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation [SGF], Ahmed Yayale during the late President Ya’Adua administration. Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation [SGF], Ahmed Yayale President Buhari, on his side, had already sealed up his mind on this matter.

He had already selected Kingibe as the next chief of staff. This is not until pressures began to mount from unlikely quarters – who want Maman Daura’s influence over the chief of staff’s office.

The Buhari Organization [TBO], Buhari Support Group [BSG] and other like groups have indicated their strong feelings over the choice of Kingibe.

Maman Daura, on his end, is not moved. He is still firm on his resolve to hoist Kingibe to the seat.

In fact, Kingibe continues to act as the chief of staff, presently. Daura is confident, the President will follow as instructed.

Meanwhile other personalities are lineup for the position. Some of the mentioned names are ;

Mohammed Sarki Abba who currently serves as the S. A. Domestic – he is the preferred choice of the Buhari organization, [TBO].

Adamu – minister of education – he has no sponsor but he is considered the most independent-minded.

Hamid Ali – the Customs boss – preferred choice of Buhari Support Group [BSG]. He is regarded as too stiff and pretentious.

Ibikunle Amosun – former governor of Ogun State. He is a personal choice of the President. He is considered too arrogant and power-hungry.

Confirmed by the President's spokesperson. The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari. The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020,” a statement from spokesman Garba Shehu read in part.

Abba Kyari, had been diagnosed with coronavirus which he is believed to have contracted whiles on official duty in Germany. He was transferred from the capital Abuja to Lagos for medical care.

A Reuters report of March 24 described Kyari, who is in his 70s, as “an important figure in President Muhammadu Buhari’s government and his illness could have ramifications for the running of the country. Kyari has a history of medical complications, including diabetes, and is the gatekeeper to the president. Many who wish to deal with Buhari must go through Kyari, including Nigeria’s top politicians and business owners.”

The national tally as at 10:00 pm 17th April stood at 493 confirmed cases. Out of which fifty-one were new cases: the breakdown of which were as follows – 32 in Lagos, 6 in Kano, 5 in Kwara, 2 each in Oyo, FCT and Katsina, one each in Ogun and Ekiti.

Abayomi disclosed this at a press briefing on Tuesday, April 14. He said a total of 118,000 households had been reached in the search of possible COVID-19 cases in communities.

As the two weeks lockdown declared by President Muhammadu Buhari in Lagos, Abuja and Ogun State expires today, the President will by 7pm address Nigerians on the next line of action.
There have been anxiety in many quarters whether the lockdown which was imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) would be extended or lifted.
A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina in Abuja, Monday said, “President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast to the nation Monday, April 13, 2020 at 7pm. “Television, radio and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) respectively for the broadcast.”

Breaking: President Buhari to Address Nigerians Today on Covid-19 Lockdown

President Muhammadu Buhari has affirmed that the lockdown order will last as long as his 'scientific advisers' declare they are necessary.

In a statement released by Presidential spokesperson Garba Shehu, Buhari who acknowledged the efforts of Nigerians as well as the sacrifices made during the stay at home period, stated that the lockdown is a major attempt to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

He said;

“We realize that today, there will be sons and daughters unable to visit their parents, and elders that are isolated from young ones. And there will be those who live day-to-day, eating as they earn, who face real and present suffering.

“No elected government could ask more of the citizens of the country that elected them than today we ask of you. But we must ask you – once more – to observe restrictions on movement where they are in place, and follow the instructions of our scientists and medical advisers: stay home, wash your hands, save lives.

“The freedoms we ask you to willingly forsake today will only last as long as our scientific advisers declare they are necessary. But they are essential – world over – to halt and defeat the spread of this virus.”

The President also disclosed that he has ordered the release of 70,000 tonnes of grain from the National Strategic Grain Reserves for distribution and also disbursement of cash to poor families.

He urged Nigerians to listen and follow public announcements via the mass media for instructions as to how to receive this government support – and learn of more public assistance in the coming days.

The statement added;

“For those who suffer most egregiously, the Government has announced multiple measures to assist: 70,000 tonnes of grain is being released from the National Strategic Grain Reserves for distribution to those in most  need; distribution of small cash payments are also being made, and will continue to be made by the federal government in the states and local government areas.

“We ask you to listen and follow public announcements via the mass media for instructions as to how to receive this government support – and learn of more public assistance in the coming days.

“All that the Government is asking you to endure is because nowhere in the world today is there any known way of defeating this pandemic. There is no vaccine. And that means there are choices to be made: between continuing as usual, or accepting the restrictions even when they come with unintended consequences.

“But at this darkest hour, it remains our duty to offer you the full and unvarnished truth: This is a global pandemic. 210 countries and territories across the globe are affected. We cannot expect others to come to our assistance. No one is coming to defeat this virus for us.

“Instead, the defeat of the virus in our country will be in our hands, alone. We cannot wait for others. We can only depend on ourselves now.  And so we must  – and we will – end this outbreak ourselves as Nigerians, together”.

The Chinese doctors who arrived yesterday in Nigeria are expected to begin their duties today. Let's go on to how they got here yesterday and how they're going to operate here in Nigeria, and what they want every Nigerian to understand from their arrival.
The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Zhou Pingjian; Executive Director, China Civil Engineering Construction Company, Mr. Jacques Liao, senior officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health and others welcomed the medical staff who landed about 5:15 pm.
And they said they donated a lot of things. From Algeria to Zimbabwe, both funding from the Chinese government and Chinese companies operating on the continent, mobilized by their embassies, have embarked on a cash, PPE and test kit donation blitz.
The personnel, who are experts in infectious diseases, respiratory disease, intensive care, cardiology, neurology, general surgery and anesthesiology, all wore face masks as they filed off the aircraft.
Liao also disclosed in a statement on Tuesday that the medical team would come with 16-tons test kits, ventilators, disinfection machine, disposable medical masks, drugs, infrarot thermometer and other items ordered by the Federal Government.
He noted, "All working team members have tested negative for COVID-19 and will begin their stay in Nigeria by spending fourteen days in quarantine.
"The team's primary purpose is to provide critical and necessary healthcare assistance for CCECC employees. We always come to the employees with appropriate personal protective equipment and medical supplies. "They'll be spending 30 days in the country.
The medical team's visit had been mired in controversy with the Nigerian Medical Association and other organisations opposed to the initiative.
But the CCECC, which arranged the visit, said the Chinese doctors had come to treat their employees, adding that they would come with their medications, and equipment to perform COVID-19 tests on the country's workers.
China has made it clear that it wants to help but even in Africa, where it has established deep ties, this assistance is regarded suspiciously and even rejected in some cases.
"There is a urgent need for medical protective equipment and supplies to assist public health workers in Africa, and China's contributions fill part of that need at a time when not many others have stepped up to help," says Eric Olander, Chinese Africa Project Manager.

A South-East group, Igbo Renaissance Forum has knocked the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government over its approach to the N20,000 stimulus package for the ‘poorest in the society.’
The group said it was baffling that the government decided to share a total of ₦52bn to 2.6 million poor families in cash, without a clear system for accountability and transparency.

The Forum described as shocking government decision to give cash to individuals across the table, adding that by this, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar Farouq, had flouted the government’s order on social distancing and clearly contravenes the money laundering Act.
Calling for accountability, the Forum demanded that the ministry should immediately make available on their website, the details of those who were benefiting from the stimulus exercise.

“It has also become very evident that the preparedness level of the Federal and State Governments is nothing to write home about. We were caught napping, even though citizens were told that there was full proof readiness by government,” the group said in a statement signed by its international Coordinator, Nze Ugo-Akpe Onwuka (Oyi).

It added that, “This we view as capable of completely eroding the little trust the citizens have for the political leadership in place today.
“There is a complete failure from the state to the federal level, including the National assembly that is abnormally obsessed with sucking the nation dry; sharing exotic cars in the middle of a health crisis and still bent on spending a whopping 37 billion on the renovation of the National Assembly building while the federal government went BEGGING for ventilators to keep themselves and the citizens alive. What a shame!

“We are aware that the Federal Government has announced palliative measures, which included disbursement of stimulus cash of twenty thousand naira to the ‘poorest in the society’ as they claimed.

“It is, however, very shocking to see the crudest form of disbursement of the stimulus cash that would give medieval men goose bumps, as cash is given to individuals across the table.
